Pathway comes from humble beginnings, birthed out of a vision given to Marty and Julie Strait in September 2008. The two sought God in prayer, realizing their call to plant a new church in Longview that would help connect people to purpose. They held their first Bible study on January 10, 2009, with a few invited family and friends in attendance. By February, the Saturday night meetings were moved to a local hotel, hosting more than 70 people at the first gathering.
The official launch of Pathway Church was an exciting time in our church history. God raised up an incredible team of people who helped prepare for our first official service on Sunday, September 13, 2009, in the Autumn Room of the Ramada Limited in Longview, Texas. By the fall of 2011, attendance was exploding, calling for the addition of a second service on Sunday mornings.
As Pathway rapidly outgrew its location, the decision was made to move the young church to a larger site on Loop 281. Our first service at the new location took place on March 25, 2012, making it possible for the people of Pathway to again worship together in one service. Since that time, we have experienced continued growth, expanding and renovating to make room for a growing body. A second service was added on February 17, 2013, allowing even more people room to pursue God in an engaging, life-giving atmosphere.
We are family here at Pathway – a growing family where people are the priority. That means there’s always room for more. So while we are excited about the numerical growth we have experienced since our inaugural services, we are even more thrilled when we get to watch God transform a life and connect His people to purpose. After all, that has and always will be the vision of Pathway Church.
The future is bright here at Pathway, and we can’t help but be excited about how our story will continue to unfold in Longview, greater East Texas, and around the world. We hope that you will join us to find your place in the story, too. We’re just getting started!
