The Beginning

On September 22, 2008, God placed it on the heart of Marty and Julie Strait to plant a Church in Longview, TX. They immediately began prayer meetings to seek God concerning this huge step and amazing adventure. On January 10, 2009 Marty and Julie along with their family began a Bible study and invited a few family and friends. In February they moved the Saturday night meeting to a local hotel and over 70 people attended the first meeting. During the summer God began to build a team and they began working and preparing for the official launch of Pathway Church.

Growing

Pathway’s first official service was on Sunday, September 13, 2009 in the Autumn Room at the Ramada Limited in Longview, TX. There were 149 people present for the first service. The future of Pathway is bright. The congregation is continuing to grow and ministries are being birthed as we move toward God’s heart for Pathway.

Your Place in the Story

At Pathway, the people are more important than the task or as we say, “The priority is people”. We recognize that church health is more important than numerical growth and church programs. At Pathway, we know that God has a specific plan and purpose for each person’s life. That’s why our heart is “connecting people to purpose” The ministries at Pathway are simply a reflection of our heart to help people of all economic, social and ethnic backgrounds in East Texas and around the world!

It is such an awesome privilege to introduce you to Pathway Church! Our greatest desire is to provide a place where you can have a life-changing encounter with God.

At Pathway we look forward to accepting people from all walks of life, regardless of your background. We love people and believe that every person was created with amazing worth. It is our passion to promote life-giving ministry that infuses the life and love of Christ into the hearts and lives of believers. We want to provide a place where anyone can encounter God, develop enduring relationships with others, and discover purpose in life.

We are striving to become the kind of church that we read about in the Bible. A church that is comprised of heart-felt worship, relevant and life-applicable teaching, sincere friendships, constant prayer, powerful ministry, and compassionate care for those in need. We want to be identified as Christians not by ourselves, but by our community. We hope that we will become a church that truly influences the community around it.

So whether you are exploring God, beginning in God, or a mature Christ follower, we would love for you to consider Pathway as your church home. We want to do life with you!!
